There’s a dua (prayer) the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to say when looking at his reflection (that we’re encouraged to say as well):
اَللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ حَسَّنْتَ خَلْقِيْ فَحَسِّنْ خُلُقِيْ
Allah, You have made my external features beautiful,
so make my character beautiful as well.
When you’re lookin’ good, you’re feelin’ good, too. And ain’t no problem with that.
Just acknowledge the One who made you to look this good, and as you look at what’s on the outside, don’t forget the importance of what’s on the inside.
What a beautiful way to acknowledge our beauty without arrogance, and in a manner that encourages us to be beautiful in all aspects – namely, in our character.
