I recently found myself in a nervous state whenever I was completing a certain task.
Generally, I might think to just stop the task, or take a break, or suffer through it until it was over.
But this time, I decided to take a second, and notice what was happening to me physically. I was losing breath at the end of every sentence, my voice started giving out, and I realized I was walking back and forth.
So, I took a seat. I paused to breathe. I slowed down. And…I wasn’t as nervous anymore.
Whenever you find yourself in a certain state, see if you’re having a physical reaction. Then, react to that reaction.
Just as your mental state can change your physical state, changing your physical state can change your mental state.
